Before any of that, I spent years conducting orchestras and playing organ in some of the grand cathedrals in Europe, earned a standing ovation at Carnegie Hall, and once played for the Pope, on St. Peter's Square — still one of those moments I have to pinch myself over.

Leaving It All Behind

After many years in the music business, a major personal crisis forced me to pause and ask myself what really mattered. Out of that came a new direction — and, finally, the freedom I'd always hoped for, since I was a little girl standing in front of a world map, wondering what all those far-off places actually looked like. And...

Magically, just in that moment, an opportunity came through — a farm sit in South Africa's wine country outside Cape Town, and many more housesits and wonderful travels to follow.

Somewhere in there, I discovered my love of writing, and self-publishing as the vehicle to share it... and a whole new world opened up for me!

Becoming a Digital Nomad (there's always a cat somewhere 🐱)

My first book — a pink little blogging guide, about a decade ago — quietly turned into a webinar, then into my first publishing course, then enough automated, passive income that I could disappear for months and the business kept running without me. I've been a Digital Nomad ever since, loving that same automation-over-hustle philosophy I picked up from Rich Dad Poor Dad, long before "passive income" was a buzzword.

But if I'm honest, it was never really about the automation. It's about waking up somewhere new and still not quite believing this is my life. I've hand-fed a cheetah in Namibia, watched deer in a Beach Villa in Bali, and crossed the Australian continent on the Indian Pacific Train. If you've ever thought "I'd love to just go" — that's the dream I'm living. And it started with one small book.

There's also, somehow, always a cat. Wherever I'm housesitting this month, there's a cat on my lap — it's become a running joke with my readers. Which is also, not coincidentally, how the next thing came about: Blissful Kittens, a friendly, funny series teaching beginners how to actually use AI, launched in October. Same audience, same approach. Just more cats. 😻

After 10+ years in publishing, I knew exactly what authors actually needed — because I'd been frustrated by every tool that claimed to help and never fully delivered. I'd never written a line of code before this.
