How to Resize and Align a Picture in Your Book

Click the picture, then use the small bar beneath it to choose a size, align it left, center or right, or drag the gold handle on its right edge.

Click the picture in your text. A small bar appears under it with the size buttons, Left, Center and Right alignment, Space above/below and Link. You can also drag the gold handle on the picture's right edge to resize it.

How do I add a picture?

Click the paperclip button, or simply paste a picture into your text. Both open the same Insert Image window. There you pick the size (25%, 33%, 50%, 75% or Full), the alignment (left, center, right) and write the ALT text.

How do I change the size of a picture?

Click the picture in your text.
In the small bar that appears under it, use the size buttons.

Prefer to do it by hand? Drag the gold handle on the picture's right edge to resize it.

How do I align a picture left, center or right?

Click the picture, then click Left, Center or Right in the small bar under it. The Left, Center and Right buttons in the main toolbar also align a selected picture or QR code.

How do I change the space above and below a picture?

In the same small bar, find Space above/below and click Small, Medium or Large. This sets the gap above and below the picture in the print preview and PDF only.

Will my choices carry into the print preview and the PDF?

Yes. Size, alignment and spacing all carry into the print preview and the PDF. To check how it looks on the printed page, click Page Preview at the top of the editor.

What else is in the picture bar?

The bar also has Link. Links in your book are not clickable in the printed PDF, because Amazon's KDP print system rejects interior files containing any clickable element. The same links stay clickable in the ePub. You can read more in Why are links not clickable in my print PDF?
