How to Add a Pull Quote or an Action Box to a Chapter
Switch to Page Preview, then click Pull Quote or Action Box. A pull quote is turned on or off for one chapter at a time.
Switch to Page Preview for the chapter, then click Pull Quote. Click the same button again to remove it. A pull quote is a per-chapter toggle. The Action Box option sits in the same Page Preview controls.

What is a pull quote?
A pull quote is a standout sentence from a chapter, featured as a styled callout in the printed book.
How do I add a pull quote?
- Open the chapter and switch to Page Preview mode for that chapter.
- Click ❝ Pull Quote in the toolbar.
- It auto-picks a standout sentence from the chapter's first section to feature. A text box appears.
- Edit the text box to any sentence you prefer.
- Click the button again to remove it.
This is a per-chapter toggle. It is not a section you add to the chapter list.
What is an Action Box?
On the Step 4 · WRITE roadmap page, the Writing Studio features include "Action Boxes: Exercises & prompts."
How do I find the Action Box option?
Open the chapter in Page Preview and use the ✎ Action Box button next to Pull Quote in the Page Preview controls. In the Full Screen preview on a phone, tap the ⚙ button to open the format, template, pull-quote and action-box options, and tap it again to put them away.
Do these buttons show in the Visual Editor?
No. The Format, Template and Paragraphs selectors, and the pull quote, are Page Preview mode only. They control print and PDF layout, so they are hidden while you are in the Visual Editor, where they have no effect.
Where else can I make the page look right?
Page Preview has Format, Template and Paragraphs controls. The Format dropdown (for example, Paperback 6×9) sets the page size for Page Preview and PDF export. The Template dropdown (for example, Classic Authority, the default) sets the interior design style: fonts, spacing and heading styles. The Paragraphs dropdown switches between Block (spaced, the default) and Indent (traditional) paragraph style. See Format, Template and Paragraph style.
