Is Your Book Safe? Versions and Backups Explained
Your writing autosaves to your account as you type, and every save is also kept as a snapshot for recovery.
Yes. Everything you type saves automatically to your account, shortly after you stop typing. You never need to click Save. On top of that, every save is kept as a permanent snapshot, and your own cloud storage holds an extra backup copy.

How does autosave work?
Your text saves into the app's own database, tied to your account. Nothing is kept only in the browser. The bar along the bottom of the writing area shows Auto-saved, then Saving…, then ✓ All changes saved. Because the book is in your account, it is there when you come back on any device.
This happens whether or not you have connected Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive or a folder on your computer.
What is "Save to Your Cloud"?
It makes a backup copy of the whole book in your own storage: the Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive or computer folder you connected. It is not our database. The same kind of backup is also made in the background. On a phone the button shows as a cloud icon. See How do I connect cloud storage?
What are versions?
Every save is automatically kept as a permanent snapshot in the background. This exists specifically so a mistake or an accidental change is never permanently unrecoverable.
How do I get an earlier version back?
If you need an earlier version restored, contact support at contact@goldenbestseller.com and say roughly when the content was correct. It can be retrieved from that saved history and put back for you. Please do not keep trying things or assume it is gone for good.
How do I keep my own copy?
Export (top right of the Writing Studio) lets you download a real PDF or ePub copy straight to your computer at any time. Export offers ePub, plus PDF in six sizes: paperback 6×9, 5.5×8.5 and 5.25×8, workbook 8.5×11, and hardcover 5.5×8.5 and 6×9. Before exporting, resolve any "Not saved" message, so your download is current.
What if I see "Not saved"?
If the bar says "Not saved — retry", keep the page open, copy any unsaved text somewhere safe, and use the retry. Wait for All changes saved before switching or reloading. If a message says the book changed in another session (the same book open on two devices), keep the page open, copy unsaved text, and reload before editing. See Why does it say "Not saved — retry"?
What if my content looks missing?
Check the easy explanations first. Try the Refresh button in the bottom bar, confirm you are in the correct book (the dropdown at the top of the Chapters panel) and the correct section (click the section name in the sidebar). Most "missing" content is just being viewed in the wrong place. If it is genuinely gone after that, every save is kept, so your work is very likely still recoverable, and you should contact support. See My content disappeared. What do I do?
