What to Do If Your Content Disappears

Check the book, chapter and section first. Every save is kept permanently, so your work is very likely recoverable. Contact support if it is not.

First check you are in the right book, chapter and section. If it is genuinely gone after checking, every save is kept permanently, so your work is very likely still recoverable. Contact support rather than keep trying things or assuming it is lost for good.

The bottom bar of the Writing Studio, with the saved message, the word count, Save to Your Cloud and Dictate.

What should I check first?

  1. Click the Refresh button in the bottom bar.
  2. Check the book. Click the book name dropdown at the top of the Chapters panel and confirm you are in the correct manuscript. You can also click the My Books tab to see all your projects.
  3. Check the section. Click the section name in the chapter list on the left to confirm you are in the correct section.
  4. Check for a second book. Each import creates a separate book, so an import never changes an existing one. A title, date or book-list entry does not prove all content imported, or that two books are duplicates. Open each candidate copy and compare the chapter list and the actual text.

Is my work really safe?

Everything you type saves automatically into this app's own database, tied to your account. Every save is also automatically kept as a permanent snapshot in the background, specifically so a mistake or accidental change is never permanently unrecoverable. Read more in Is my book safe? How do versions and backups work?

Can I restore an older version myself?

Not yet. There is no button inside the app yet for you to browse and restore an old version yourself. If you genuinely need an earlier version restored, reach out to support at contact@goldenbestseller.com with roughly when the content was correct. It can be retrieved from that saved history and put back for you.

What should I avoid?

Do not delete or merge any books until you have opened each one and checked its contents. Preserve every copy until you have verified the contents and have a backup. Do not identify a "real" copy from timestamps alone.

What if I just imported a book?

Only a confirmed server save is a successful import. If you saw an error or missing content, keep your original Word or ePub file, note the exact message, and check the intended book in My Books before reimporting. Follow any sign-in or cloud-connection prompt. Then contact support at contact@goldenbestseller.com with the stage or message, and a screenshot if helpful. Never send secret keys.

Could it be a save problem?

If the bottom bar says "Not saved — retry", keep the page open, copy any unsaved text somewhere safe, and use the retry. See Why does it say "Not saved — retry"?

Not sure where to start? The Course Coach inside the app guides you through each step, so you are never stuck on a button.
