What to Do When a Translation Stops or Shows a 502 Error
Keep the page open, wait about a minute, then click Retry. Retry continues from your saved progress and does not start the whole book again.
Keep the translation page open, wait about a minute, and click the Retry button beside the error on the same translation. Retry reuses saved work and resumes the unfinished part. It does not restart the whole book.

What does a 502 error mean?
These interruptions should be rare. A 502 means the service could not complete the request. It is a gateway or server failure. It is not proof of an invalid Gemini key, exhausted credit, a damaged book or a poor model.
Do not buy credit, change your key or model, shorten your book or start over because of a 502 alone.
What should I do first?
- Keep the translation page open.
- Wait about a minute.
- Click Retry, which sits beside the error on the same translation.
The translator saves completed analysis batches and translated parts. Retry reuses saved work and resumes the unfinished part. It does not restart the whole book. In the final editorial stage, Retry resumes saved editorial parts. It does not regenerate completed drafts.
What if I already left the page?
- Return to the Global Book Translation Generator.
- Let your saved progress load.
- Use Retry there.
Do not use Reset, re-import the book, clear your browser data or create a new translation as the first step. Clearing browser data does not delete server-saved results, but leaving or refreshing the page can discard unsaved in-memory work.
Will I use more of my Gemini allowance?
Work that was successfully saved is reused. A request whose response was lost before saving may need to run again, and that may incur another charge for that part. No one can promise zero additional usage, or that every in-flight word was saved.
What if it says my progress could not be saved?
Keep the page open so Retry can save the result held there. Do not refresh first.
What other messages might I see?
- An unfinished response from the AI. The app rejected an unfinished answer rather than accept it as complete. The message alone does not tell you why it ended. For a translation, the same saved-part Retry behavior applies. You do not have to restart the entire book.
- A Gemini key or quota message. Follow that message first. If Google reports a quota limit, check your project's active limits in AI Studio. Your saved translation progress can resume when quota is available. A 502 on its own does not mean you need to buy credit. See What does my AI key cost?.
- AI busy or at capacity. A reported Google 503 or UNAVAILABLE is an availability error. It is not proof of invalid credentials, exhausted quota or unpaid billing. Wait about a minute and try once.
- The source book changed. If the source book changed, the app may require a fresh translation to avoid combining different source versions. Retry cannot safely reuse an older version in that situation.
Can I pause on purpose?
Yes. Use Pause after saving this part when you want to pause deliberately. The translator is browser-orchestrated. It is not a background job guaranteed to run after you close the page.
What if Retry fails again?
Stop retrying for now and email contact@goldenbestseller.com. Please include:
- The exact error message.
- The approximate time and your time zone.
- Your book title.
- The target language and country.
- The visible stage or part number.
Never send your API key or password to anyone. If you are sent to connect your Gemini key, remember it is super easy, takes only a few seconds, and the app guides you through it. See How do I contact support?.
Is a finished translation ready to publish?
A qualified bilingual editor is the final publication review. The completion notice is not human certification or a print-layout check. Before publication, review flagged author decisions, the final export and any specialist or idiomatic wording.
