How to Translate Your Whole Book With the Global Book Translator
Choose your book, pick a language and country, click Translate Book, review the Translator's Notes, then push the translation into the Writing Studio.
In the Global Book Translator you choose your book, pick the target language and country, click Translate Book, review the Translator's Notes, and then click Push Translation to Writing Studio. It is found in Step 8 · EXPAND, Lesson 3, on the second tab (Global Book Translation).

What do I need before I start?
- A localized title. Run the Title Localizer for the same language first and choose your title. Translate Book stays disabled, with an on-screen explanation, until a matching-language Title Localizer result exists. Your original English title and your Title Localizer choice are two separate decisions.
- Your own Gemini key. Full-book translation requires a personal Gemini connection. Connecting a key is super easy, takes only a few seconds, and the app guides you through it step by step. Using your own key is free or minimal in cost. If Google reports a quota limit, your saved translation progress can resume when quota is available. See How do I connect my AI key?.
- Cloud storage, only if you import a file here. Import External Book requires connecting a personal cloud storage account first (Google Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive). You connect it once and it is remembered for every future import anywhere in the app. See How do I connect cloud storage?.
How do I translate my book?
- Pick the book. Click Choose from your Books and pick any book already in My Books. Or click Import External Book to bring in a new Word (.docx) or ePub (.epub) file right here, using the same import as My Books.
- Choose the Target Language and the Target Country / Amazon Store. This happens right after picking the book, before anything is generated, because the formal or informal way of speaking and the vocabulary decisions depend on which country's readers the book is for. Spain Spanish and Mexico Spanish are not interchangeable. The language list has Spanish, German, French, Italian, Portuguese and Japanese. The country list only shows the real Amazon stores that serve the language you picked.
- Check the terms to keep unchanged. The Do Not Translate List is where the terms that must stay unchanged go.
- Check the Localized Title. The Main Title and Subtitle come from your Title Localizer choice for that language. If they are missing, click Pull Latest Translocated Title.
- Click Translate Book. Keep the page open while it runs.
What happens while it translates?
The app analyzes the book's voice, recurring terms, idioms and cultural references, and creates a language-specific brief. Then it translates manageable parts, with a separate AI editorial review. It saves completed work along the way.
In the final editorial stage, the translator compares every saved source and draft pair in a final bilingual edit, using one shared style sheet. It finishes with a combined heading and notes consistency check.
The translator is built to preserve facts, negation, numbers, names, gender-neutral meaning and voice. Adaptation is not permission to invent facts.
The translator runs in your browser. It is not a background job that is guaranteed to keep running after you close the page, so keep the page open. If you want to pause on purpose, click Pause after saving this part.
The translated manuscript is not shown on this page. The review screen shows the Translator's Notes, and the translated manuscript is available when you push it to Writing Studio.
What do I do when it finishes?
You see the Translator's Notes. They explain the register, the protected terms and the localization choices in English, and the localized examples stay in the target language. They show exactly how the book was localized:
- The register decision: which "you" form was used and why.
- Any terms kept in English on purpose.
- The core vocabulary translation choices.
- A glossary of idioms and wordplay, with how each was localized.
- Chapter by chapter, the translated titles and any notes worth flagging.
If you speak the language and disagree with a choice, use Change this next to it. See What are Translator's Notes and how do I use Change this?.
If you leave the page or refresh after a translation finishes, the last translation review is saved automatically and reloads on its own when you come back to this tab.
How do I push the translation into the Writing Studio?
Click Push Translation to Writing Studio when you are satisfied. The app:
- Creates the real, fully formatted translated book in My Books, tagged as a translation of the original.
- Automatically translates the front matter (title page, dedication, disclaimer and so on) to match.
Then check whole-book consistency, omissions, punctuation, headings and export layout in the formatted translated book before you publish.
Should someone check the translation?
Yes. A qualified bilingual editor is the final publication review. The completion notice is not human certification or a print-layout check. Before publication, review flagged author decisions, the final export and any specialist or idiomatic wording. Use Change this for specific corrections.
