The KDP A+ content guidelines are the rules for the text and images in your A+ content. Breaking them can lead to a rejection by KDP's system, removal of your ASIN, or both.
Amazon has specific terms and policies about content that may not be allowed, so KDP asks you to review the list carefully. You must have all necessary rights for the images and text, and KDP's existing Content Guidelines also apply.
What are the top reasons A+ content gets rejected?
Before you submit, check these common rejection reasons.
- Pricing or promotional details. Don't include pricing, promotional details or discounts, or promotion references such as "affordable," "bonus," or "free." Don't include language that tells customers to buy, such as "buy now," "add to cart," "get yours now," or "shop with us."
- Customer reviews. KDP doesn't allow customer reviews in A+ content. To add Editorial Reviews to your books, use Amazon Author Central to create an Author Page and share more information about your book.
- Time-sensitive information. Don't mention time-sensitive information such as now, new, latest, yet, on sale now, the latest product, the best yet, or references to holidays. This includes references to Kindle Unlimited.
- Publication quotes. A maximum of four quotes or endorsements is allowed. Quotes should only come from well-known publications or public figures, and must come with the author and, if citing a publication, the title.
If you get a rejection, follow the directions to fix the issue and resubmit your A+ content.
What are the image and text formatting rules?
- File types: supported image file types include JPG and PNG in the RGB colorspace. CYMK colorspace isn't supported. Each file must stay under 2 MB. Resolution should be at least 72 dpi. Animated images (for example, GIF) are prohibited.
- Quality: blurry or low-quality images, images with watermarks, and images with small text that is unreadable on mobile devices aren't allowed.
- Alt text: image alt-text (previously called image keywords) that doesn't describe the image, and wouldn't help a customer using a screen reader, can get your content rejected.
- Unique content: images and text must be unique to A+. Avoid reusing the same images already published in the image gallery of the page. A+ content is meant to show the unique aspects of the product.
- Logos and icons: include only one brand logo, and only icons that help customers navigate the text. Logos and symbols from partner companies "do not need to be used, but may be allowed if logical or beneficial." You must have all necessary rights to use brand logos or symbols.
- Writing style: spell out all numbers under 10, use consistent punctuation and serial (Oxford) commas, and capitalize each major word in a header. Grammatical errors, punctuation errors, misspellings, strings of all-caps text, misuse of font features, and unnecessary or repeated information can get content rejected. Bold and italic formatting are only meant to highlight headings or a few select words.
- Language: content written in languages other than the one specified in the content, including HTML tags, isn't permitted.

What are the rules for claims and awards?
- Awards and endorsements: when you reference them, include a note in the text with the date they were achieved and the organization that gave the award. Don't mention awards received more than 2 years ago.
- Certification claims (for example, recommended by, certified, tested, approved, proven, validated) and awards must be backed by a note in the text with the certifying or awarding body, study, publication or other evidence, and the year.
- Environmental claims with words like "eco-friendly," "biodegradable," and "compostable," including their symbols, aren't allowed in text or images. Claims that a product is "recyclable" or "ecological" must be backed by a note in the text with supporting information, such as the materials used or the certifying body and year.
- Satisfaction and boastful claims such as "100% satisfaction guaranteed," "#1 rated," and "top-rated" aren't allowed.
- Health claims: remove any claims to cure, mitigate, treat, or prevent diseases in humans or animals, or both, for drugs, cosmetics, medical devices, beverages, food, and health products (including natural health products, vitamins, and supplements). Other claims about those products, and any general claims, need a note in the text to back them up.
What content is never allowed in A+ content?
- Guarantee information, including references to off-Amazon return or refund policies, is strictly forbidden.
- Anything that violates the KDP Terms and Conditions and Content Guidelines is prohibited.
- No shipping details (for example, "free shipping"), QR barcodes, or personal information such as a phone number, address, or email on the A+ page.
- No quotes or attributions to individuals, customers, or other private figures. A maximum of four quotes or endorsements is allowed, only from well-known publications or public figures, with the author and, if citing a publication, the title.
- No references to or comparisons with competitors, however competitors are mentioned (specific names, described as "other(s)," or otherwise). The content is meant to build the brand and give more product details, not discuss competitors.
- Comparison charts may only compare against other books in your own KDP account.
- No pricing, promotional details or discounts, or promotion references such as "affordable," "cheap," "bonus," or "free," and no language directing customers to purchase such as "buy now," "add to cart," "get yours now," or "shop with us."
- No time-sensitive information such as now, new, latest, yet, on sale now, the latest product, the best yet, or references to holidays.
- Trademark and copyright symbols are acceptable if they're a reasonable size and either already on the product packaging or always shown as part of the logo, or both. Stand-alone symbols are never allowed otherwise. Remove any trademark or copyright symbols from text copy.
- No web links or language that tries to send customers to other sites inside or outside Amazon (including your other products).
- Offensive material of the kind listed in KDP's Content Guidelines isn't sold: content KDP determines is offensive, promotes the abuse or sexual exploitation of children, contains pornography, glorifies rape or pedophilia, advocates terrorism, or is otherwise inappropriate or offensive.
- No references to off-Amazon customer service or contact information (for example, "contact us if you have problems," phone numbers, or contact email).
- No images or text that try to imitate Amazon logos, detail page headings, or details. References to Amazon-supported programs or branded products are permitted.
What this means for you
- Leave out prices, words like "free" and "new," customer reviews, links, contact details, and competitor comparisons.
- Use JPG or PNG images in RGB, each under 2 MB, with alt text that really describes the image.
- Back up any award or claim with its date and source, and skip awards from more than 2 years ago.
- Use no more than four quotes, and only from well-known publications or public figures.
