What Happens to Your Copyright Page, Images and Links on Import
Your copyright page is not lost. Import fills in the Front End tab for you, brings in your images and keeps your links.
Your copyright and title page content is not imported as a chapter, and it is not lost either. Import reads it and fills in as much of the Front End tab as it can find. Your images and links come across too.

Why did my copyright page not show up as a chapter?
This is intentional, not a bug. The Writing Studio has its own dedicated place for front matter: the Front End tab. So the book's title page, copyright and legal-notice content is intentionally not imported as a chapter.
So where did that content go?
Import automatically reads that same leading content and prefills as much of the Front End tab as it can find:
- Subtitle.
- Copyright holder.
- Publisher.
- Edition.
- ISBN.
- Trademarks, even ones mentioned inline in a sentence rather than in a clean list.
- Cover design credit.
- Dedication.
Anything real it finds that does not fit one of those exact fields lands in the Additional Fields section of the Front End tab instead of being dropped.
What should I do after importing?
Open the Front End tab and look over what is already filled in. It is a starting point to check over, not something to fill in from scratch. Anything the automatic read did not catch, or got wrong, you can type or fix directly. The Front End tab is built to hold that content either way.
The copyright page is labeled Impressum in this tool. It is the same page, with the same content: copyright notice, rights statement, trademarks, ISBN and disclaimer. See Where is my copyright page?
Do my images come across?
Yes. Real embedded images are pulled directly from your file. They are automatically upscaled if they are below Amazon's print-quality threshold, so you do not need to separately re-insert or upscale images that were already in your original manuscript. For adding pictures and ALT text in the Writing Studio, see How to Add Images and ALT Text.
What about Parts like "Part 1: Getting Started"?
A book's real Parts are a structural grouping above individual chapters, like "PART 1: Getting Started" containing several chapters under it. They are detected automatically. They are shown visually larger and bolder, with their chapters nested underneath, both in the Writing Studio's chapter list and in the exported book. Not every book has real Parts. Most do not, and that is normal.
What happens to my hyperlinks?
Real hyperlinks in your original file are preserved in the imported chapters. They work normally in the ePub export and in the Writing Studio editor. They are removed only from the print and PDF version, because a clickable link cannot safely exist in a print file and Amazon's KDP print system rejects files that have one. See Why are links not clickable in my print PDF?
What if the chapters came out wrong?
See My import split into too many or too few chapters.
