How to Use the Chapter Detail Generator and What to Expect
Click Generate to create writing guidance for every chapter, and keep the page open until it finishes.
Check that your Book Planner Blueprint, Knowledge Graph Output and Book Outline show "Loaded", then click Generate → and keep the page open while it works. The page tells you what to expect as it builds.

What does the Chapter Detail generator do?
It is part of Step 3 · BUILD, where the Architecture Team creates your chapter details and writing guidance. The Chapter Detail generator expands each chapter into detailed sections with writer's prompts, subheaders and goals. It is built from your Knowledge Graph, your Book Blueprint and your Book Outline. The generator page describes what it generates as a complete writing architecture for every chapter:
- Intro section headings.
- Chapter hooks.
- Subheaders with specific writing prompts.
- One Action Step per chapter.
- Lead-Overs.
Chapter Detail creates writing directions for you, the author. It does not draft stories, scenes, dialogue or narrative. If your Blueprint includes a story for a chapter, the story-based writing prompts preserve the facts you supplied in that chapter's Blueprint story. They do not invent people, events, statistics or outcomes to make a story more vivid.
Neither the Book Planner nor Chapter Detail prewrites your introduction. Chapter Detail keeps the five intro section headings for you to write in the Writing Studio. An automatically drafted introduction is not promised.
What stays exactly as you set it?
Chapter Detail preserves chapter titles and subheaders exactly from your Book Outline. The Planner supplies the other authored chapter fields.
What does each chapter in the book contain?
The course teaches this chapter anatomy for every chapter:
- A chapter opener that sets the emotional tone and orients the reader.
- Five to six subheaders with content. Each subheader is written as a search query or transformation statement and carries at least one concept node signal.
- An Action Step: one concrete thing to do immediately after the chapter.
- A Post-it: one memorable, quotable sentence.
- A Lead-Over that bridges to the next chapter and makes stopping feel wrong.
There are no chapter summaries. The Action Step and the Post-it are the stronger closer.
What must be ready first?
Three cards show whether each source is loaded:
- Book Planner Blueprint
- Knowledge Graph Output
- Book Outline
Each shows ✓ Loaded or Not loaded. A note beneath tells you what to run first. Complete the missing source for the book you have selected, and do not switch books just to turn the button on. Generate → stays grey until all three are loaded. There is nothing to type.
How long does it take?
While it works, the page shows: "Building your Chapter Detail Architecture — this usually takes 1 to 4 minutes, depending on the length of your book. Please keep this page open…"
What happens with a very long book?
A book of more than 30 chapters is built in parts of about 12 chapters each. The page shows where it is, for example "part 2 of 4", and tells you: "Each part takes about 2 minutes, so please keep this page open…" If one part does not finish, the parts already built are kept. Click Generate again and it continues from the part that failed instead of starting over.
What do I do with the result?
- Use Copy if you want a copy. Delete asks you to confirm first. If deletion fails, the output remains visible with an error, which means it has not been removed. Deleting does not undo the AI usage that has already happened.
- Move to the Writing Studio. The word count target (the "X / Y words" progress bar) and the Writer's Prompt, the guidance for each section, come from the Chapter Detail generator. If there is no target, the bar tracks progress from zero.
- Bring your outline in. You can click through directly from the Chapter Detail generator right after generating, which applies the new outline immediately and prompts for a working title. Or, from inside the Writing Studio, if the current book has no outline yet, Pull latest outline fetches your most recent Chapter Detail result and applies it. In My Books, + Pull Latest Outline does the same. If you have more than one project, a dropdown lets you pick which project's outline to pull.
If you do not like a result, you can generate another version. Each run may cost tokens and is not guaranteed to differ. Everything can be fine-tuned later in the Writing Studio. The generators build the blueprint, and the Writing Studio is where you make it yours.

What if something goes wrong?
- Generate is greyed out: a source says Not loaded. See My Step 3 output says "Not saved yet", or Generate is greyed out.
- Not saved yet: keep the page open and click Retry saving, or copy the output before leaving. Retry saving makes no AI call.
- A timeout or an error such as 502, 503 or 504: wait about one minute, then click Generate again with the same inputs. Your existing saved outputs stay safe. A new try is a new single attempt and may use tokens.
- A connect-your-key message: connecting your own AI key is super easy, takes only a few seconds, and the app guides you through it step by step. The cost of using your own key is free or minimal. See How do I connect my AI key?.
