How to Start an Additional Project for a New Book
Open My Projects in the left sidebar and click + New Project. Give it a name, and it becomes your active project right away.
To start a new project, open My Projects in the left sidebar and click + New Project. Give it any name, even a working title. The new project becomes your active project immediately, so your next generator run saves into it.

How do I create a new project?
- Click My Projects in the left sidebar.
- Click + New Project.
- Type a name. A working title, a nickname or "Book Project 1" is fine.
- Click Create New Project. The new project is now your active project.
This works every time, not just once. You can create a 2nd, 3rd or any number of projects, whenever you start a new book.
How do I switch back to an older project?
On the My Projects page, click into that project's card (View Results →). It becomes the active project again, so your next generator run saves there. Looking at a Legacy Outputs card is only browsing. It does not change which project is active.
How do I rename a project?
Click directly on the project name on its card. A small pencil icon shows that it is editable. Type the new name and press Enter. This works from the card view.
What does the project card show?
The landing view shows a card per project, similar to My Books in the Writing Studio. Each card shows the project name, when it was created and how many outputs are saved in it. The cards only appear once you have created at least one project. The currently active project is marked Active. Click ← Back to Projects to return to the card view from inside a project.
Inside a project you see the same tabs you already know: Step 1, Step 2 (your Book Planner blueprints), Step 3, Step 6, Step 7, Step 8 and Translation Versions. There is deliberately no Step 5 tab on that page, even though Step 5 · GROW itself is still a real step in the sidebar and Roadmap.
Where did my old outputs go?
If you used the app before projects existed, your old outputs are safe and unaffected. If you have never created a project, you see them directly. Once you create a real project, they appear under a Legacy Outputs card, clearly separated from your new work, so that old work is never lost or hidden.
Does a new project also start a new book?
No. A project and a book are separate. Creating a project does not create a manuscript. To start a new manuscript, go to My Books in the Writing Studio and click + Create New Book. That asks for a working title, an author name and a language. Read more in What is the difference between a project and a book?
