Using the App on a Phone or Tablet
The whole Writing Studio works on a phone, and the Step 1 generators, the Book Planner and saved outputs fit phone-sized screens. Here is what changes.
Yes. The whole Writing Studio works on a phone, and the Step 1 generators, the Book Planner and your saved outputs support phone-sized screens. A phone held upright and a phone held sideways use the same compact layout. A tablet held upright uses the desktop layout.

How do I get around the course on a phone?
Use the navigation menu to choose the step and lesson you want. On the Roadmap, the eight steps show in two rows of four so every step is visible. Wide tables in your saved results scroll sideways, so swipe inside the table to see more. The Book Planner phase tabs also swipe.
Long written outputs have paragraph spacing and smaller reading text on phones, and form inputs stay comfortably readable. A desktop offers more working room, but a phone is not itself a cause of Gemini availability errors.
How does the Writing Studio change on a phone?
- Chapter list: Tap the Chapters button at the top left of the writing area to open the chapter list as a panel over the page. Tap a section and the panel closes so your writing area is clear. Tap Close to put it away without choosing.
- Move and delete: Drag and drop does not work on a touch screen. Every chapter and section shows ▲ ▼ buttons to move it up or down, and a visible × to delete it. Deleting always asks you to confirm first.
- Formatting toolbar: It is one row that swipes sideways and stays pinned at the top while the page scrolls. A small ‹ › arrow appears at the edge whenever there are more buttons that way, so you can tap it or just swipe. Undo and Redo are not shown on phones to save room (they are on desktop and tablets).
- Top tabs: The row of tabs (Writing Studio, Audiobooks, My Books, Import Book, Front End, Final Editor, QR Library, Tutorials) also swipes sideways. A ‹ › arrow sits beside Audiobooks while more tabs are off-screen, so if you cannot find Front End, tap it.
- Scrolling: The page scrolls as one piece. The chapter title, Writer's Prompt, the Visual Editor / Page Preview and AI buttons, and the toolbar sit above the writing area, so scroll down to reach the full writing area. The bottom bar stays at the bottom of the screen. With the on-screen keyboard open there is less room, so scroll to bring the writing area into view. Hide prompt removes the Writer's Prompt panel to give you more room.
- Pickers: The emoji picker and the text-color picker open as a panel at the bottom of the screen. The emoji one has a Close button.
How do Page Preview and Full Screen work?
Held upright, the preview shows one page at a time. Full Screen opens the preview over the whole screen with just the chapter title, a ⚙ button and Close along the top (Close is always at the top right). Tap ⚙ to open the format, template, pull-quote and action-box options, and tap it again to put them away. Held sideways, Full Screen can show two pages side by side when the chapter has more than one page and there is room.
The ePub preview is a simulation. Real e-readers (Kindle, Apple Books) choose their own page size and text size, so the page numbers in the ePub preview are not real page numbers. On a narrow screen it shows one page at a time; tap the left or right edge to turn the page.
What about the Front End and Audiobooks tabs?
They stack on a phone. On Front End the form comes first and the page thumbnails are below it. On Audiobooks the settings come first, and the audio editor and guide are below.
Why can I still see Safari's address bar?
On an iPhone, Safari's own address and tab bars cannot be hidden by the app, because Safari does not let a web page do that. They may stay visible, especially when the phone is held sideways. Where a browser allows it (for example Android Chrome and iPad), Full Screen asks the browser to go full screen.
What if something is clipped or I cannot tap it?
The Course Coach bubble is smaller on a phone and can be dragged anywhere on the screen if it covers something. If something is clipped, overlapping, or cannot be tapped, take a screenshot and write down the page, your phone model and your browser. Then write to contact@goldenbestseller.com.
