What Step 5 Is and What You Do There

Step 5 Grow helps you gather readers and connections while you write, and it asks for no daily posting at all.

Step 5 · GROW is where you start gathering your readers while you are still writing. This step is not optional — and it doesn't have to be painful.

The roadmap title is "Build Your Fanbase Before You Launch", and it asks: "Why wait until launch to find your readers?" While you are writing, you start attracting real people who are genuinely interested in your topic.

What is Step 5 for?

Step 5 teaches "a simple, inexpensive system to grow fast, create buzz, get feedback, find advance readers, connect with influential people and build an audience that will follow you for every book you write."

How do I open Step 5?

1. 1In the left sidebar, click STEP 5 · GROW.
2. 2The first time, you see the Step 5 roadmap page. Click Start Building My Fanbase →.
3. 3The Step 5 lessons open.

After you have started a step, clicking its tab in the sidebar takes you straight to the lessons. To read a step's roadmap page again, click Roadmap in the top menu and then click the step's number.

Do I have to post on social media every day?

No. The roadmap heading is "No Daily Posting. No Social-Media Treadmill." You do not need to become an influencer. Set up a simple, targeted system to put your book in front of the right people. It is quick, inexpensive and runs mostly on autopilot, even if social media isn’t your thing.

The process has three parts: Set it up, Let it run, and Your fanbase grows. Roadmap wording: set it up (quick and easy), let it run (mostly on autopilot).

Does Step 5 run at the same time as writing?

Yes. On the roadmap, your Writing Team (you write) and your Audience Team (you build your people) work side by side. Together they hand off to the Prep Team, which sets up your storefront in Step 6.
